AI Creative Lab of the IAIA Project!

A collaboration between LABA Brescia, LABA Valencia, IES Dos Mares, and Liceo Scientifico Statale Leonardo. During this three-day event, teachers and students started working together to explore the possibilities of applying AI to art, design and photography. It was also an exchange of knowledge between experts, designers and teachers that allowed for a multidisciplinary perspective, a perfect starting point for the IAIA course that will be developed in the coming months. 

The IAIA Course for secondary schools will consist of 4 modules:

Module 1: Legal and ethical aspects
Module 2: Using AI for inclusiveness
Module 3: Creative workshops – image creation in the artistic/professional field
Module 4: Creative workshops – creative writing. 

Highlights of the IA Creative LAB included the presentation “The Philosophy and Ethics of AI” by Andrea Loreggia (LABA Brescia), the Midjourney workshop by Ilgın İçözü (LABA Valencia), where students worked in pairs using inspiration from Città Invisibili (Invisible Cities) by Italo Calvino.

This was an excellent start of the collaboration between students and teachers from Spain and Italy.

The objectives of this first Creative Lab were the following

  • To get to know each other
  • To share knowledge, experiences and good practices between the members of the partnership
  • To explore the possibilities of art direction, AI and storytelling using the novel “Città Invisibili/Invisible cities” by Italo Calvino
  • To define the methodology and organisation of Activity 3 (development of the learning material) to receive feedback from the teachers about the contents, material and activities.
